Generosity Day 2012
Valentines Day is coming up and people are dividing into groups of yea and nay in a way that mostly reminds me of the Team Edward and Team Jacob era.
This is stupid, right? Why not rejoice and come together around a great cause instead? I recently met Sasha Dichter from Acumen Fund who is the man behind Generosity Day. Two years ago, when Sasha was on the train and he by default said no to someone asking him for money, he had an interesting thought: What if I never said no? Ever? What if I said “YES!”? He decided that for a whole month he wouldn’t say no when someone asked him for money, whether it was a homeless man on the train or someone asking him to save the rain forests. He would only say “yes”. And so, he started Generosity Day with the thought that we should re-boot Valentines Day and do good for everyone.
We hereby challenge you, to not only be the most generous and loving you can on February 14th, but to create a Whtespace with stories or photos from your blog, flickr or where ever you live online that documents your most generous day of the year. Name the Whtespace “Generosity Day 2012” and add generosity@whtespace.com to the receiver list, so we can see your great doings. Also, remember to tweet at #generosityday. Looking forward to it, guys!
Happy Helping Everyone!

Thousand and One Emails..
At times, I feel like a spammer.
The first hour of my day I check my twitter feed and the information trail that follows and I find that I just HAVE to show someone that video of the fox licking a window or the article on Facebook’s IPO. But getting 13 emails with a single link in each is a little much… and people are getting annoyed.
So, I thought: Why not create a special Whtespace for each of my friends? And send them a daily digest? Now, they aren’t annoyed any more because their day is not disturbed by cute cats or pictures of beautiful cabins in Norway.
Yup, at Whtespace we love animal videos, so feel free to post the best animal video you can find on our Facebook page!

Designing Whtespace

In a world of content being shifted, moved, tweeted, socialized, and last but not least emailed, the creative process is relegated to being second fiddle, and productivity within the workplace takes a sharp decline. However, there is a need for sharing, and as the old saying goes ‘sharing is caring’
Whtespace was born out of necessity. As a creative, my mind drifts, and distractions are many. We created Whtespace to allow for ‘whitespace’ – free to think, free to create. Whtespace lets you feel safe in the knowledge that you can be informed on your own terms – in your inbox, curated and elegantly designed.
Three reasons why email still rules the Internet
By Henrik Werdelin and Melissa Andrada
Email is, besides all its flaws, still the cornerstone of the Internet. If you look at new successful services that are gaining traction, many of them are companies that use email in a smart, new way. The past couple of years, we’ve seen this from daily deals startups, like Groupon, GiltCity and Living Social. These companies take advantage of email’s ubiquity and deliver deals in your inbox. While you can view daily deals on an app (like ScoutMob or Tenka) or a browser, email is still the easiest, most inclusive and most memorable way to get discounts and save money. You get it once a day – it’s quick, digestible and habitual.
Welcome to Whtespace!
Whtespace is opening it’s doors, please give our beta a try!
It’s always a daunting feeling to push something new into the interwebs. For five months, the Whtespace team has tried to prepare for this day. You never feel completely done – but we’re here, excited and ready!
We are so proud of what we can present to you – it’s called Whtespace, it’s all about trying to create a simple beautiful way of de-cluttering your inbox, gathering some of the randomness – and giving you a little more control of when you want to see what’s going on online.
Whtespace came out of the premise that we all get links from friends, family and co-workers – every day at random times. We try to check out as much as we can, but sometimes you just don’t have time – and after a busy week, you wonder if you missed out on something…
